Srinagar, July 3  In a continued crackdown on terrorism and drug trafficking, Awantipora Police have booked a terror associate under the Public Safety Act and a habitual drug peddler under the PIT NDPS Act.

In a handout to GNS the police said that the terror associate has been identified as Suhail Farooq Lone @ Sahba, son of Farooq Ahmad Lone, resident of Lone Mohalla, Nigeenpora Reshipora, Tral. After obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority, he was detained and lodged in District Jail Baderwah.

Police said Suhail was actively involved in providing logistical support, shelter, transportation and other assistance to terrorist outfits operating in the area. Despite repeated preventive measures, he continued activities prejudicial to the security of the State, necessitating detention under PSA.

The drug peddler has been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Mir @ Mana Tiger, son of Abdul Khaliq Mir, resident of Kadlabal Pampore. He was booked under PIT NDPS Act after obtaining detention orders and lodged in Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.

Police said Manzoor is a habitual offender with several NDPS cases registered against him. He was actively involved in supplying narcotics to local youth in Pampore and other areas of Police District Awantipora, posing a serious threat to society.

J&K Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and public order through firm legal action against terrorists, their associates, and drug traffickers. Police said such measures reflect their resolve to dismantle the terror ecosystem, curb drug abuse, and safeguard the youth.

The public has been urged to share information related to terrorism or drug trafficking with the Police, reads the statement
