IGP Kashmir Reviews Security for NEET UG Re-Exam, SANJY-2026; Orders Strict SOP Implementation

Srinagar, June 18(GNS); Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, V.K. Birdi on Thursday chaired a high-level review meeting to assess preparedness for the NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination and the upcoming SANJY-2026 Yatra.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that the meeting focused on finalizing security, traffic, and public facilitation arrangements to ensure the smooth, fair, and transparent conduct of both events.

Attendees included IGP Traffic, all Range DIGs of Kashmir Zone, DIG Traffic, SSP PCR Kashmir, SO to IGP Kashmir, all District SSPs of Kashmir Zone, and other senior officers.

*NEET UG Re-Exam Security Measures*

IGP Birdi directed strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures at all examination centres. He instructed field officers to ensure adequate police deployment with a focus on access control, crowd management, and maintenance of law and order.

Officers were told to carry out strict frisking and identity verification of candidates at entry points in coordination with examination authorities. He also emphasized secure transportation, escort, and handling of confidential examination material, and close coordination with civil administration and concerned agencies.

On traffic arrangements, IGP Birdi directed officers to facilitate smooth movement of candidates and prevent congestion around examination centres. He called for professional conduct, public-friendly policing, and seamless coordination among stakeholders.

*SANJY-2026 Arrangements*

For SANJY-2026, IGP Birdi stressed strict adherence to prescribed SOPs and directed seamless coordination among security agencies for the safe and smooth conduct of the Yatra. He asked District SSPs to personally supervise security arrangements and ensure foolproof security for Yatra convoys through effective deployment and real-time monitoring.

He also ordered strict enforcement of Yatra convoy movement schedules and prescribed cut-off timings to facilitate safe passage, asking officers to implement convoy regulations in a coordinated and public-friendly manner.

Concluding the meeting, IGP Kashmir directed officers to maintain strict vigilance, ensure close coordination among agencies, and effectively implement security and traffic arrangements while ensuring public convenience, reads the statement.(GNS)
