June 10, 2026: The Healthy Lifestyle and Balanced Diet Committee Government Degree College Zanskar organized an awareness programme on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and balanced nutrition in the college conference hall today.
The programme was conducted under the guidance and supervision of the Worthy Principal, Dr. Amjad Ali Abbasi, who has always encouraged initiatives aimed at promoting the health and well-being of students and staff. In his remarks, the Principal emphasized the importance of adopting healthy dietary practices and urged students to avoid excessive consumption of junk food and unhealthy eating habits. He highlighted that proper utilization of a balanced diet is essential for maintaining good health, preventing diseases, and enhancing academic and professional performance.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Mohd Hussain, Assistant Professor (Zoology) and Coordinator of the programme, addressing the gathering, Dr. Hussain focused on the close relationship between diet and disease. He explained that many non-communicable diseases, including obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disorders, are directly linked to unhealthy dietary habits and sedentary lifestyles. He stressed the importance of consuming nutritious and balanced meals rich in essential nutrients to strengthen immunity and prevent lifestyle-related ailments.
On the occasion, Mr. Hussain Ali, Director of Physical Education, delivered an informative PowerPoint presentation highlighting the significance of regular physical exercise in maintaining good health and preventing lifestyle-related diseases. He emphasized that physical activity plays a crucial role in improving physical fitness, mental health, and overall quality of life.
Mr. Hussain Ali also elaborated on the importance of balanced nutrition, explaining that proper dietary intake, coupled with regular exercise, is the foundation of a healthy body and mind. He encouraged participants to adopt healthy lifestyle choices to ensure long-term physical, mental, and social well-being.
The programme concluded with an interactive session in which students and faculty members actively participated and shared their views on healthy living, dietary awareness, and disease prevention. The event successfully created awareness about the importance of a balanced diet, regular exercise, and healthy lifestyle practices among the participants.
