Mega Anti-Drug Rally in Ganderbal Tomorrow; Traffic Police Announce Restrictions and Diversions

Touseef Wani

Ganderbal, June 4 : The Traffic Police Rural Kashmir on Thursday issued a comprehensive traffic advisory ahead of a Mega Rally (Padh Yatra) scheduled to be held in Ganderbal town on June 5 under the nationwide Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

According to the advisory, vehicular movement will remain completely suspended from 4:00 AM to 3:00 PM on several key roads in the district to facilitate the smooth conduct of the anti-drug awareness rally.

The routes affected by the restrictions include Pandach Crossing–Wayil-Manigam Crossing, Beehama Chowk–Barsoo Crossing, and T-Chowk–Gadoora.

In order to regulate traffic and minimize inconvenience to commuters, authorities have put in place a series of alternative routes and diversions.

Traffic heading towards Srinagar from Ladakh, Sonamarg and Kangan will be diverted at Wayil-Manigam Crossing via Shadipora and Shalteng, and the same route will be followed by vehicles travelling in the opposite direction.

Similarly, vehicles moving from Guthlibagh towards Srinagar will be routed through Wayil-Manigam Crossing, Shadipora and Shalteng, while traffic from Lar and Tulmulla areas will be diverted through Dangarpora, Barsoo Crossing, Shadipora and Shalteng before proceeding towards Srinagar.

The Traffic Police have urged motorists to avoid unnecessary travel through Ganderbal town during the specified hours and to strictly follow the designated diversions to ensure hassle-free movement and public safety.

The advisory has been issued in the larger public interest for information and compliance. The order was issued by Liaqat Ali, Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic Rural Kashmir, vide Advisory No. TPORK/Estt/Advisory/2026/7480 dated June 4, 2026.
