Ganderbal, June, 2026: The Ganderbal Thang-Ta Championship 2026, organized by the Ganderbal Thang-Ta Association and sponsored by the J&K Sports Council, concluded successfully after two days of thrilling competition held from 19th to 20th June 2026 at Indoor Stadium Sehpora, Ganderbal.
The championship witnessed the enthusiastic participation of approximately 250 players from various schools, clubs, and training centers across the district, showcasing exceptional talent, discipline, and sportsmanship in the traditional martial art of Thang-Ta.
The closing ceremony was graced by Mr. Mir Mushtaq, Provincial President, JKYNC Kashmir Province, as the Chief Guest.

– Peer Asrar, Youth Executive Member, JKYNC Kashmir Province

Addressing the participants, the dignitaries appreciated the efforts of the Ganderbal Thang-Ta Association in promoting Thang-Ta and encouraging youth participation in sports. They congratulated all athletes for their outstanding performances and emphasized the importance of sports in character building and youth development.

Champions: Khelo India Thang-Ta Centre, Lar
Runners-Up: Alamdar-e-Kashmir School, Ganderbal
2nd Runners-Up: Qamaria Model Higher Secondary School, Ganderbal
The organizers expressed their gratitude to the J&K Sports Council, officials, coaches, volunteers, participants, and supporters for contributing to the success of the championship.
The event concluded with the distribution of trophies, medals, and certificates to the winners and outstanding performers.
