New Delhi, July 19, : Facebook experienced a widespread service disruption on Sunday, leaving users across multiple countries unable to access their accounts and prompting a surge of complaints on online forums and outage-tracking platforms.
Affected users attempting to log into the platform were greeted with the message: “Account Temporarily Unavailable. Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect this to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes.” The same message was visible in screenshots shared by users worldwide, including one accessed by KNT.
Reports indicate that the disruption affected both desktop and mobile users, while several advertisers also complained that Meta’s business dashboard and advertising tools had become inaccessible during the outage. Users from North America, Europe and Asia reported experiencing the same error simultaneously, suggesting the issue was not confined to any single region.
Within minutes of the outage, online discussion forums were flooded with posts from users seeking confirmation that the problem was widespread and not limited to their individual accounts. Many also reported that Messenger services were experiencing disruptions alongside Facebook.
As of filing this report, Meta had not issued any official statement explaining the cause of the disruption or providing an estimated timeline for full restoration. Similar outages have affected Facebook on several occasions in recent months, temporarily locking users out of their accounts before services were restored.
The outage disrupted access for millions of users who rely on Facebook for communication, business promotion, news dissemination and social networking, with many taking to alternative platforms to report the incident while awaiting restoration of services. [KNT]
