DIPR organises Drug Awareness Programme at GDC Ganderbal

GANDERBAL, JULY 09: The Cultural Unit Kashmir of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), in collaboration with Government Degree College (GDC) Ganderbal, organised a Drug Awareness and Prevention Programme on the theme “Drug-Free Jammu & Kashmir: Challenges and the Way Forward” at the college auditorium.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Wasia and Dr. Jamsheeda Akhter, while Prof. Fouzia Fatima, Principal, GDC Ganderbal, highlighted the role of educational institutions in creating awareness against drug abuse and promoting healthy lifestyles among youth.

Dr. Mohammad Zubair Ahmad Lattoo, Deputy Director (Hqrs), DIPR, who attended as Chief Guest, stressed the need for collective efforts to combat drug addiction and urged students to become ambassadors of awareness in their communities.

While AECO, Cultural Unit DIPR, Syed Shakeel Shan encouraged students to channel their energies towards education, sports, culture and creative pursuits, and spread awareness against drug abuse.

The programme featured a seminar and a skit highlighting the harmful effects of drug addiction. In the speech competition, Lubna Jan secured first position, followed by Rukaya Batool and Mohammad Shadab. The skit presentation by students received appreciation for its impactful message.

Certificates were distributed among participants and winners by the dignitaries. The programme concluded with a collective pledge to work towards a Drug-Free Jammu & Kashmir.
