DODA, JUNE 11: Assistant Commissioner Development Doda Din Mohd Afaqi today chaired a review meeting with Block Development Officers (BDOs), Junior Engineers and Technical Assistants to assess the progress of developmental works across the district.
The meeting conducted a detailed block-wise review of material liabilities, pending bills, work completion reports and the status of ongoing rural development projects. The ACD emphasised the timely processing of bills and the maintenance of financial records to ensure transparency and accountability.
The pace of execution under various schemes was also reviewed. The Assistant Commissioner Development issued directions to expedite pending works and ensure their completion within stipulated timelines while maintaining quality standards.
Stressing the importance of field supervision, Afaqi directed all Junior Engineers, Technical Assistants and field functionaries to undertake regular site inspections. He underscored that frequent visits are essential for quality execution and the prompt resolution of bottlenecks.
The officers were further instructed to strengthen coordination to ensure projects are implemented in an efficient and result-oriented manner. Mr Afaqi called upon the field staff to remain responsive to public needs and ensure the optimum utilisation of resources for rural communities.
He also stressed the importance of the timely submission of estimates and work completion documents. Among those present were Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Doda, various Block Development Officers, Junior Engineers and Technical Assistants.

ADC Ramban inaugurates inter-zonal district-level competitions
RAMBAN, JUNE 11: Additional Deputy Commissioner Ramban Varunjeet Singh Charak today inaugurated the inter-zonal district-level competitions for the under-14, under-17 and under-19 age categories in badminton, yoga and chess at Government Model Higher Secondary School, Ramban. The inaugural function witnessed a large gathering of students, sports enthusiasts and officials.
Meanwhile, the competitions in volleyball, kabaddi and kho-kho for the same age categories continued on the third day at DPL Ground, Ramban, amid active participation from young athletes representing six zones of the district.
More than 203 students participated in the competitions and attended the inaugural ceremony, reflecting the growing interest in sports among the youth of the district. Participants displayed remarkable enthusiasm, discipline and sportsmanship throughout the event.
Addressing the participants, the Additional Deputy Commissioner emphasised the importance of sports in building a healthy and productive society. He informed the participants that several sports grounds and related facilities would be developed and made available in the coming days to help them nurture their talent.
Highlighting the significance of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan conducted under the guidance of the Lieutenant Governor, the ADC urged young people to stay away from drug abuse and actively participate in sports and other constructive activities.
He further stated that, in line with the vision of the government, sports activities are being promoted at the grassroots level to provide young athletes with the best possible platform to showcase and develop their abilities. He reiterated that every effort is being made to encourage participation and create opportunities for children to excel.
Among those present were Vice Principal (GMHSS Ramban) Subash Chander, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Nazir Hussain, Activity In-charge (District Youth Services and Sports Office Ramban) Arun Sharma, Zonal Physical Education Officers Mohammad Sadullah Mir (Banihal), Fayaz Ahmed Mir (Khari), Mohammad Haroon Bhat (Ukhral), Joginder Paul Gupta (Batote) and Omkar Singh Parihar (Ramban), besides physical education teachers, Rehbar-e-Khels, National Youth Corps volunteers and ground staff.
Nazir Hussain said that the competitions would continue over the coming days, providing young players from across the district an opportunity to showcase their talent while promoting teamwork and sportsmanship.
