GANDERBAL POLICE INTERCEPT NARCOTICS CONSIGNMENT MEANT TO FRAME THE HUSBAND.
On 08-08-2026, Police Station Safapora received credible information regarding a suspicious parcel dispatched from outside UT and addressed to a resident of Safapora. FIR No 21/2026 under relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered and investigation was taken up.
The parcel was intercepted at Post Office Safapora, and opened as per procedure in the presence of the Executive Magistrate, FSL and Crime teams along with sniffer dog squad.
The suspected contraband was seized and samples forwarded for confirmatory analysis which confirmed it as approximately 4 kg cocaine-mixed powder, 80 grams charas and psychotropic tablets.
During investigation, it emerged that the consignment had been arranged as part of a conspiracy to implicate the addressee in a false drug case.
Investigation revealed the involvement of his wife’s former partner, who allegedly arranged the consignment through a contact based outside UT.
The accused identified as Tariq Ahmad Sofi of Zainakot Srinagar, has been apprehended and further investigation is underway to establish the complete network, source of the narcotics and the role of other persons involved. Further arrests and disclosures are expected.
