RANGYUG Conducts Theatre Workshop at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jindrah

Theatre Education Can Shape Confident and Creative Young Minds: Deepak Kumar

Jammu, July 14: Continuing its mission of taking theatre-based education to schools across Jammu Kashmir, RANGYUG on Tuesday organised an interactive theatre workshop for the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jindrah.

The workshop, conducted under the guidance of Deepak Kumar, Director, RANGYUG, aimed at introducing students to theatre as a dynamic tool for learning, creativity, communication and personality development.

Students participated enthusiastically in a variety of theatre-based activities, including voice and speech exercises, body language, improvisation, role play, stage movement and team-building games. The workshop created an engaging learning environment where students explored their imagination, expressed themselves freely and developed confidence through experiential activities.

Addressing the participants, Deepak Kumar said that theatre is one of the most effective methods of experiential learning, as envisioned under the National Education Policy-2020. He said that while academic excellence is essential, children also need opportunities to develop creativity, emotional intelligence, communication skills and leadership qualities.

“Theatre enables children to learn by doing. It nurtures curiosity, strengthens self-confidence and encourages them to think independently while working collectively. Every child possesses unique talent and theatre provides an inclusive platform where every voice matters. Our endeavour is to make theatre an integral part of school education so that students grow into confident, creative and socially responsible citizens,” he said.

Deepak Kumar also highlighted RANGYUG’s continuous efforts to integrate theatre with education. He said that after successfully conducting theatre programmes in colleges and higher educational institutions, the organisation has now intensified its outreach in schools to familiarise young learners with the educational and transformative potential of theatre.

Naveen Kumar, Principal, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jindrah, appreciated RANGYUG’s initiative and said that such workshops help students overcome hesitation, improve communication skills and develop a positive attitude towards learning. He expressed hope that more such programmes would be organised in the school in the future.

The interactive sessions received an enthusiastic response from the students, who actively participated in every activity and expressed keen interest in learning more about theatre.
