Ganderbal, June 21, 2026: In celebration of International Yoga Day 2026, MY Bharat Ganderbal, in collaboration with Zariya – The Unseen Hands Youth Club and the Wullar Manasbal Development Authority (WMDA), successfully organized a grand yoga event at the picturesque Manasbal Lake. The event brought together students, youth volunteers, educators, and local residents in a collective effort to promote health, wellness, and community engagement through yoga.
The theme of International Yoga Day 2026, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” emphasized the importance of adopting yoga as a lifelong practice for physical fitness, mental well-being, and holistic health. The event aimed to spread awareness about the benefits of yoga and encourage people of all ages to embrace a healthier lifestyle.
The programme was graced by Shri Gopal Namdeo, District Youth Officer, MY Bharat Srinagar/Ganderbal, who attended the event as the Chief Guest. His presence and active participation greatly inspired the participants. Shri Namdeo interacted with the students, joined them during the yoga session, and encouraged the youth to make yoga a regular part of their daily lives.
The event was also honored by the presence of Dr. Ahsanul Haq Chishti, Chief Executive Officer, Wullar Manasbal Development Authority (WMDA), who attended as the Special Guest. He appreciated the efforts of the organizers and highlighted the significance of promoting wellness activities in the serene environment of Manasbal Lake.
More than 180 students and local residents enthusiastically participated in the programme. Students performed various yoga asanas and demonstrated remarkable discipline and dedication throughout the session.
A major contribution to the success of the event came from New Delight Educational Institute, Safapora and Saddat Valley Institute, Wakura. The students of both institutions participated wholeheartedly, while their Principals and teaching staff actively supported and motivated the participants. Their valuable cooperation played a significant role in making the programme a grand success.
The organizers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Wullar Manasbal Development Authority (WMDA) for providing the stage and other essential facilities required for the smooth conduct of the event. Their support was instrumental in ensuring the successful organization of the programme.

From registration and participant coordination to stage management and overall event execution, the volunteers efficiently managed every aspect of the programme and ensured a seamless experience for all attendees.
