Family alleges injection by trainee staff led to complications; hospital orders inquiry

Ganderbal, June 4: An 8-year-old girl has alleged medical negligence at Trauma Hospital Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, claiming that an injection administered at the facility led to health complications.
According to the family, the child had been taken to the hospital with fever, following which a doctor prescribed a paracetamol (PCM) injection. The family alleged that no permanent staff member was present at the time and that nursing trainees administered the injection.
The family further alleged that the injection was administered negligently, after which the child developed swelling and infection in the injection area.
“Now the patient is unable to walk or sit properly,” the family alleged.
The family also raised concern over the alleged absence of permanent staff during night hours at the hospital. “What happened to us today could happen to someone else tomorrow,” they said.
The incident has triggered concern among local residents, who have demanded a transparent inquiry and accountability if negligence is established.
Medical Superintendent of Trauma Hospital Kangan said that a fair and thorough investigation would be conducted into the allegations.
“All aspects of the case will be examined carefully, and strict action will be taken if any negligence is found,” the Medical Superintendent said, adding that the hospital would extend full support to the patient and family during the process.
