RRU signs MoU with J&K State Disaster Response Force to boost UT’s disaster management capacity
June 16, 2026: Taking a step towards strengthening disaster preparedness and response capabilities in Jammu and Kashmir, Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), J&K Campus, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jammu and Kashmir State Disaster Response Force (JKSDRF).

The collaboration is aimed at bringing together the academic expertise of RRU and the operational experience of JKSDRF to enhance training, research, and capacity-building in the field of disaster management.

As per the signed MoU, both institutions will be working together on developing specialized training programmes for SDRF personnel, jointly certifying academic and training courses, and strengthening disaster management training centres across the region: “We will be collaborating closely in organizing workshops, seminars, lectures, and short-term training programmes to promote knowledge sharing and professional development,” the agreement noted.

The MoU further opens avenues for joint research initiatives and the exchange of faculty members, academic resources, and scholarly information, creating opportunities for innovation and learning in disaster management practices.

The significant agreement was signed at the office chamber of Shri A. G. Mir, IPS, DGP and Commandant General, Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF, J&K, in Srinagar.

Speaking about the agreement, officials stated that the partnership showcases a shared vision of building a more resilient Jammu and Kashmir through better preparedness, skilled manpower, and research-driven solutions. By combining academic knowledge with field experience, RRU and JKSDRF aim to contribute meaningfully to strengthening disaster response and community safety across the Union Territory.
