Calls for intensified public outreach, awareness activities

SHOPIAN, JUNE 09: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta today chaired a comprehensive review meeting of the ongoing 100 Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan (NMJKA) and directed all concerned departments and stakeholders to further intensify awareness and outreach activities across the district.

During the meeting, the  Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress achieved under the campaign and assessed the implementation of various awareness programmes being conducted at the district, block and village levels by the departments.

Stressing the need for sustained public engagement, the DC directed officers to ensure the organization of more events and activities involving youth, students, civil society members and local communities.

The DC emphasized that the anti-drug campaign requires a collective and coordinated approach and called upon all departments to enhance their efforts in spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse. He instructed officers to increase the frequency of awareness programmes, sports activities, seminars, rallies, cultural events and community interactions to maximize outreach under the NMJKA initiative.

Highlighting the importance of grassroots participation, the DC directed concerned departments to ensure wider public involvement and effective dissemination of the campaign’s message in every corner of the district.

The meeting also reviewed the performance of various departments and discussed strategies for achieving greater public participation and impactful outcomes under the ongoing 100-day NMJKA campaign towards making district Shopian drug-free.

The focus was laid on uploading of all events on the portal with daily targets set among departments.

The meeting was attended by ADDC, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone; ADC, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz; GM DIC, Shurjil Naik; Principal GDC Shopian, Prof. Tariq Ahmad and other district administration officers.
